Why Share Our Knowledge?

Over the past several years, our team has spoken at dozens of high-performance building conferences, taught a wide variety of classes and webinars for university students and professionals, and juried national award competitions. People often ask the question, “Why share knowledge that helps to educate your competitors?”. It’s a fair question. We have worked for over two decades to create a knowledge base and a set of processes to design and build high-performance buildings. The answer is mostly that it’s the right thing to do, and we also believe opportunities in this space are massive.

Across the world, we need to making building electric buildings the “new normal”. We also need convert the existing building stock as quickly as possible to “all-electric” systems. Sharing knowledge allows this to happen faster, and we gain knowledge from others that helps us build our skills. It’s also true that when you look at the volume of work that it will take to build these new buildings and convert the existing building stock, there will be no shortage of opportunities for developers like us.

Whether it is speaking a Net Zero Conference or judging the ULI Americas Awards for Excellence, we can share and learn with our colleagues. We make new friendships and deepen others. This focus on constant improvement and sharing new knowledge benefits us as a company, and it also benefits our investment partners.
